A multi stakeholder governance group is hosting the India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) 2021 from 8th to 11th of November 2021. The theme for IIGF 2021 is ‘Empower India through the power of Internet’. Hon’ble Prime Minister has kindly consented to preside over the valedictory session on 11th November, 2021*.
India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) has been constituted in conformance to IGF- Paragraph 72 of the Tunis Agenda of the UN based Internet Governance forum (IGF). IGF, established by United Nation in 2006. IIGF is a multi-stakeholder governance group that aims to enable a platform for policy dialogue on issue of Internet Governance. Through an open an inclusive process, IIGF brings together all stakeholders in the Global Internet governance Ecosystem – Including Government, Industry, Civil Society, Academia – as equal participants of the larger Internet Governance discourse.
IIGF 2021 seeks to position India an important participant on the global stage by highlighting India’s role and importance in the International Policy development on Internet Governance, and how India can support the transnational cooperation amongst standards-developers, network operators, online service providers, users, governments, and international organizations. At IIGF 2021 we are expecting around 10,000 delegates over 3 days of the virtual event from around the world. Keeping in mind the global importance, India IGF is planned to have 4 main tracks for sessions as below:
• India’s Digital Journey and the Learnings therefrom
• Accelerating Democratization of High Speed Internet
• Multistakeholderism
• Building Trust in the Internet
There are sub-themes under each of the above mentioned tracks, listed at Annexure A.
On behalf of IIGF-21 Governing Body, we cordially invite citizens with a vast experience and commitment towards the development of Internet in an inclusive manner to join us as a speaker at IIGF 2021.
It may be noted that Prof. Rajat Moona, Director, IIT, Bhilai and Dr. Jaijit Bhattacharya, President of the Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research – who are Vice-Chairs of the IIGF Coordination Committee would be actively involved in the exercise.
